Rodeo, oh Rodeo...

In Eagle Mountain, we have Pony Express Days.  They have a parade, carnival, concerts, and all sorts of fun things going on.  This year, I was so excited to take Brandon to the rodeo.  I thought he would just love seeing the animals.  We went to the Friday night rodeo and the flyer said it would start at 6:00 p.m.  So Joe and I got off work early so we could be there in time for it to start.  Well, it didn't start until 6:30.  By then, Brandon was just wanting to RUN!  He didn't want to sit on the bleachers with us anymore.  So we let him run a little through some bleachers that were empty.  He loved that.

Then it started to RAIN!  It got sooo cold and very windy with the rain.  Brandon wasn't really watching when the rodeo did finally start, so we decided to not torture any of us and leave.  I was so sad!

On our way out, we found some ponies that little ones could ride.  I thought, what the heck, let's see if Brandon will ride one or freak out big time.  So, we paid our $3 and I put him on a pony.

He LOVED it!!!  As we would walk round and round, he would yell, "Yee-haw!", or "Ged-up!" (gitty-up).  It was the cutest dang thing!  It made everything all worth it.

Next time, we'll just go for the pony ride!

2 Year Old Pics

I finally did it!  I finally got the appointment set up to get Brandon's 2 year old pictures taken.  Whew!  They were scheduled for this last Saturday at 11:00 a.m.  I was so excited!... until I picked up Brandon from daycare Friday evening and found this...

He had a huge cut on his eyelid and a scratched up nose.  Poor baby.  I guess he was spinning and fell and hit something.  Guess I'll try calling on a Friday night when he's looking good to make an appointment for the next day and then wrap him in bubble wrap until we arrive at the studio.  Ha ha!

Just thought I'd share a few pictures of our cute boy!  :o)

Here he is with a bouncy ball in his mouth.

It sure is hard to get him to sit still!  Ha ha!

 Such a busy-body!

We are sooooo excited!!!

Patty Cake, Patty Cake...

Brandon loves to play Patty Cake.  Probably because I will sometimes take his hands and make him do the motions very fast, or very slow, and we always end with me wrapping my arms around him at the end and giving him a good squeeze when I say "For Brandon and Me."

Last night I was cuddling with Brandon before putting him in bed.  He wanted to play Patty Cake.  This time, I had him take my hands and do the motions.  It was so dang cute!!!  He started, clapping my hands together, "Bake it, Bake it", which was followed by him rolling my hands and saying, "Rlrlrlr, Rlrlrlr", and then holding my one hand up and writing on it with my other hand saying, "Mark B".  Then he tosses my hands up and says, "Toss!"  Then he wraps my arms around him tight and says, "Baby".

I just melted!  I sure do love that sweet boy!  I told Joe we're so gonna have to get video of that.

Dinner, dinner, dinner. Ugh!

With our crazy schedule, we don't get home until 7:00 p.m. on weekdays, then we have to fix/eat dinner before we get Brandon ready for bed and hopefully have him in bed by 8:30 p.m.  Silly us.

Dinners are hard for us.  We don't want it taking all night long to fix something.  I have all sorts of ideas of cooking like crazy during the weekends and then eating it during the week.  But the weekends are the only time I have to clean house and spend time with my boys.  Who wants to sit and cook a week's worth of meals when I could be playing with my sweet boy?  For me, I'm having a hard enough time remembering to take something out of the freezer so we have something at least thawed out so we can cook something as soon as we get home.  We end up eating hodge-podge whatever we can find that's quick and easy, or we do the fast food thing.  Sigh.  We want to be better!  We want to be healthy!

So, I bought a binder and some sheet protectors a few weeks ago thinking I would make up a month's worth of menus and then put all of the recipes in the book so all we had to do was turn to it and know: This is what we're having for dinner.  Take "this" out of the freezer the night before.  Unfortunately, I haven't taken the time to sit down and figure the menu and then attach the recipe or a grocery shopping list to it.

Here is something I learned today.  It's a great website!  Not absolutely perfect, but so easy and encouraging.  Even if you are just looking for some recipe ideas or a little bit of organization, this is wonderful!

The website is:  www.thefoodnanny.org

I can easily print my menu, my grocery list, and even the recipes!  I can even add my own recipes if I want!

I am so doing this.
